Utah Gateway Community Forum Website Goes Live

SALT LAKE CITY – A diverse group of partners have launched a new website, www.utahgatewaycommunity.org, that will foster collaboration, communication, and partnerships between public land managers and national park gateway communities in Utah. Created by the National Parks Conservation Association, the website is a component of the Utah Gateway Community Forum that was initiated last November.

“This website was created to help Utah’s state and local community leaders and public land managers further connect to and strengthen gateway communities, while protecting public lands for present and future generations,” said David Nimkin, Director of NPCA’s Southwest Region. “It offers a cooperative space to discuss best practices for developing gateway communities and provides the necessary resources to bolster those critical relationships.”

This first-of-its kind website for gateway communities is the latest step in a series of actions the Utah Gateway Community Forum has taken since its inception. The site contains beneficial information, including links to community funding sources, an event calendar, a library of successful examples of collaboration, an interactive discussion board, and a directory of key gateway community and public lands contacts throughout Utah.

“The Utah Gateway Community Forum site is a terrific tool for all of us who are engaged on a daily basis in the state’s gateway communities,” said Paul Larsen, Economic Development Director for Brigham City.”  “The interactive nature of the site will be a real boon for communities that are located adjacent to national parks, wildlife refuges, or other public lands that draw recreational use.”

“For every dollar invested into our national and state parks, the public spends many additional dollars enjoying their use. The interdependence between gateway communities and Utah’s parks is crystal clear,” said Delynn Fielding, Rural Program Director for the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “NPCA has created a valuable online destination for Utah’s gateway communities, the public and land managers to address opportunities, challenges and support one another.”
