Pride is a beacon 🌈
We take our Pride as a queer couple with us wherever we go, and when we travel, a lot of times it’s to a National Park.
We’ve made it a priority to pack our pride flag on our travels, right up there with all of our hiking essentials. We love to raise it loud and proud at a trail summit and also adorn our backpacks with related pins and keychains. What we’ve noticed as a result is how something small can be big.
We’ve noticed how us flying a rainbow is beacon of acceptance and sign of safety for other LGBTQ+ couples to be who they are in the parks and be proud. We can’t tell you how many individuals or same sex couples approach us afterward and ask us to take a photo for them, and we notice how the arm around the waist, hand being held, or kiss they share is less hesitant and more comfortable.
Nature has no bias for gender, race, or sexuality. It’s one place you are able to come as you are because Mother Nature will always welcome you home! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
