Greetings from Appalachian National Scenic Trail

For me nature became a place where I could find comfort and peace during a time that seemed hectic and busy. This lake I could look out over after a long day and know that when the day was over the sun would set and rise again the next day. The value of wilderness is unmatchable as our society becomes more and more advanced. I think by recognizing the role that we as humans play into our wilderness we can become more aware and more respectful of the land around us. The land may never be untouched again, but its beauty can still provide us with comfort as we go on with our days.

Sincerely,
Catherine

I backpacked part of the A.T. during on a snowy weekend, March 2013. It was an incredible experience where I suddenly realized: this land is our land. Being a city-locked student means that I sometimes forget how beautiful this continent is. America's parks rock!
