Last week I started an epic 5-day, 400+ mile bicycle journey in Acadia National Park. On Wednesday a group of 130 of like minded bicyclists gathered for the inaugural North East Climate Ride from Bar Harbor to Boston. A subset of us warmed up with the 22 mile park loop, cruising by Thunder Hole, dipping our toes into the sand and ocean at Sandy Beach, grabbing some water at the facilities at Jordan Pond, and watching the sun set as we finished up. A few hardy souls even climbed Cadillac Mountain. It was such a great way to start such an amazing adventure that ended this past Monday on Boston Common. Thank you National Parks for preserving what is most beautiful about this wonderful place we call home!
Sincerely,
Acadia National Park
Along the rugged coastline of Maine, this gem of the Northeast offers ocean shoreline, coastal forests, remote islands, rocky mountains and historic lighthouses. With 45 miles of historic carriage roads to bike and 125 miles of trails to hike, Acadia is a premier destination for the adventurous and outdoorsy. Among the park’s granite peaks is Cadillac Mountain, which at 1,530 feet stands as the tallest mountain on the Atlantic coast.
