Greetings from Yellowstone National Park

I grew up in Wyoming and have enjoyed Yellowstone frequently since my first trip in 1950. The bears still roamed the roads and approached cars for handouts. We took my grandmother there when she visited from Texas. A bear came up to her side and opened the little triangle window crs use to have in front of the regular window. He tried really hard to get his whole paw in that little window as she held her breath. When he took his paw out of the window she dropped him a hot dog. I was so proud of my grandmother. She talked about that trip the rest of her life. I know it isn’t good to feed the wildlife but it sure was fun before we knew that.

Sincerely,
Jan

Yellowstone National Park

America's first national park is named after the river that runs through it. Within the park's massive boundaries, visitors can find mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and some of the most concentrated geothermal activity in the world. The park has 60% of the world’s geysers, as well as hot springs and mud pots. It is also home to diverse wildlife with the largest concentration of mammals in the Lower 48 states, including grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk.

State(s): Idaho Montana, Wyoming,

Established: 1872

“People may not know but we have all the oil in storage we need, so I don't think our natural beauty in the parks and along the ocean should have roads dug out for oil field trucks and big drilling rigs set up just so our 1% can make even more money to pass along to their children. Our parks and natural areas are for all of us, rich or poor. Leave them alone!! ”
