Greetings from Glacier National Park

It didn’t take long to realize the freedom of the wilderness during my week-long stay at Big Creek. By the second day, a group of friends and I spontaneously decided to go fly-fishing in the river. We waded across fast flowing, freezing water to get to the small island, where I took this picture.

The weather was perfect, the air was warm, the water was cool, and we were all having fun taking photos, splashing around and catching fish. Although very few of us caught any fish, just spending the time to sit under the sun and appreciate the surrounding nature was calming and enlightening. As clouds floated by, I was able to enjoy the beauty of Earth and all of its living and nonliving things.

Sincerely,
Sharon

Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park preserves more than a million acres of forests, alpine meadows and lakes with habitat for a wide variety of plant and animal life.

State(s): Montana

Established: 1910

“I support the national parks because nature should be cherished and protected. While most of our population spends life in the cities, soon not many will be able to witness the utter beauty of the natural world. As creatures that feed off of the land, it is our responsibility to respect and serve that land. ”

National parks represent the best of America. Why do you care about protecting and preserving them? Tell us why parks matter to you!
