Johns Lake Loop was the last hike we would go on at Glacier National Park. I remember that I was eager to get it over with since I was exhausted from all of the hikes we went on over the past week. However, when we arrived at Avalanche Lake, my friends and I were speechless as we looked at the spectacular view of snow-crested mountains, lofty forests, and a crystal-clear lake. Rejuvenated at the sight, we finished our hike in high spirits just as the clouds opened and rain poured down.
With backpacks slung over our heads, jackets soaking wet, we tumbled into our bus, breathless with laughter, relieved to finally be out of the cold and on our way back to the Glacier Institute camp.
Forging new friendships while swatting away mosquitoes, hiking up mountains, and eating huckleberry ice cream was an experience that I will never forget.
