After a recent move to northern Michigan from Chicago, my wife and I made a promise that on our first night we would go to our favorite sunset spot in the world, Pierce Stocking Drive in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It was early spring, and still quite cold, but the sunset was fantastic. What used to be a once a year experience is now in our backyard. 365 days a year the sun goes down on lake Michigan, and we are looking forward to seeing a lot more at Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Sleeping Bear Dunes features immense and magnificent sand dunes, as well as beaches, forests and inland lakes along a 35-mile strip of the southeastern shore of Lake Michigan. Off the coast, the park also includes two undeveloped islands, North and South Manitou Islands, which offer a more remote backcountry experience.
