Greetings from Grand Teton National Park

There we stand and stare, but our minds cannot even start to decipher what raw vision reveals. Huge slabs of granite protrude like fingers poking the sky through layers of snow so high in space, so high above the sagebrush and glacial kettle holes and larger blue lakes sparkling in sun reflecting upside-down images giving our minds twice as much to absorb. Already we wonder what it would be like to stand atop of the highest peak above dazzling snowfields, above the valley floor in such a bright and pure Teton reality in which our minds cannot resist becoming what they behold even though we thought that we could not!

Sincerely,
Richard F. Fleck

Grand Teton National Park

This spectacular destination preserves a dramatic stretch of the Teton Range bordering the Snake River. One of the unusual features of these distinctive mountains is the absence of foothills, meaning that there are no smaller mountains blocking the view. The park also features glacier-carved lakes, a historic district of weathered buildings made by 19th century Mormon homesteaders, and an abundance of wildlife large and small, including nearly 1,000 bison that roam the grassy fields in herds.

State(s): Wyoming

Established: 1929
