Greetings from Acadia National Park

Wnen I think of Acadia National Park, I picture in my mind Jordan Pond with the extinct volcanic Bubbles rising from the far shore. Jordan Pond has become for me my very own Walden Pond. I lived along its shores for over three months as a worker at the Jordan Pond House that served utterly delicious lobster and popovers with jam. Many a time, during our time off, my friends and I walked along its shoreline in the bright sunshine or by the light of the moon at night. Sometimes we hiked up to Paradise Pool for a magnificent overlook. Of course we visited the seashore to see and hear Thunder Hole being pounded by surf or we climbed up Mount Cadillac to view Frenchman’s Bay with its many spruce-studded islands. But we always had to return to Jordan Pond where part of my spirit still lingers.

Sincerely,
Richard F Fleck
