Greetings from Glacier National Park

We are among the lucky who happen to live in the Flathead Valley, near Glacier National Park. Over the years we have been able to enjoy many visits to this wonderful preservation of natural beauty. In 2007 a decision was made to rebuild the ‘Going to the Sun’ road from Apgar to St. Mary’s visitor center. At that time a free shuttle system was put into service, and I was privileged to be accepted as a driver. Since that time I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing the features and stories of Glacier Park with hundreds of visitors from all around the world, as the ride along on the shuttle bus to Logan pass and back. This past Summer I have enjoyed seeing 'Mother Moose and baby’, Whitetail bucks, Hoary marmots, Billy goats, Nanny goats, baby goats, Big Horn Sheep, and a huge Grizzly, along with the glorious mountain peaks and valleys that we passed as we drove the Going to the Sun road. Glacier Park is really a treasure, and thank goodness someone had the foresight to protect it as a National Park, and to construct a road in 1932 that allows millions of visitors to enjoy it.

Sincerely,
Edd Blackler
