After my husband and I first visited Yosemite National Park in the 1960s when he attended a meeting at the Awahnee Hotel, we began camping there with our six children. In 1990, as I realized our family was not getting together as we once had, I made reservations again in Yosemite. Some had married non-campers so we stayed at Curry Village. We have gone every other year since then, moving to Yosemite Lodge and adding two days at Wawona. There are now 20 or more of us each year. Our reservations for 2014 are made. Our eldest son and his wife often go to Chef’s week and their elder son and his significant other frequently camp and rock-climb. That daughter-in-law told me, “Margo, it is the best thing you have done.” Yosemite has not only brought our family closer together, it has created an appreciation of the beauty of the Park and what it represents of our country. And, for me, it feeds my soul.
Sincerely,
Yosemite National Park
