Greetings from Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park

I think seeing the live lava lake last week at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was the most epic natural experience of my long 64 years on this planet. We went for two sunsets in a row. And, I shared my binoculars with excited kids up there. The Rangers were very helpful and the visitor’s center exhibit educational. I am so grateful this awesome natural site has been saved for all of us.

We also visited Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, The “Place of Refuge” and the big Heiau at Pu'ukoholā Heiau, both incredible sights and wonderful National Park destinations on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Sincerely,
Judy Decker

This is a very sad story, unfortunately. Our family used to hike the "Bird Park" trail at HVNP for many years, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the nature there. However, recently, whenever we go there, we are harassed by repetitive overflights of tour helicopters!! This is something…
