Greetings from Golden Gate National Recreation Area

I recently visited for the first time the Rancho Corral de Tierra protected area, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, located just south of the Devils Slide tunnel that runs along the coast on Highway 1 just south of San Francisco. The protected area is accessible via bicycle or car, easily, through paved public roads in Montara. The park, nearly 4,000 acres, offers a real perception of how life was in generations past. There are farms that still stable horses, wildlife is abundant, and the hillsides are filled with native plants, some of which can only be found in this unique microclimate. The views along the trails are to die for, partially because of the uniquely steep descent of the terrain from 2,000 feet elevation to the sea shore within just over a mile. The rolling hillsides offer an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, and are located just a hop and a jump from the heart of San Francisco. The views of the ocean make for a great hike, bike ride, or a perfect setting for a date! I live along the Coastside just below this land, and I had no idea that it was accessible to the public until recently. I wish i had known that this land was available for my enjoyment earlier, but now that I have been exposed to it, I plan on visiting the land on a regular basis and exposing my friends and loved ones.
