Greetings from Everglades National Park

Before the winter residents and tourists come during the more “comfortable” season, it is a great time to visit the Everglades National Park. Recently, I was fortunate to have my sister from Nashville visit me in Everglades City, and we were able to get out on the water and experience our natural wonders. We spent the early morning hours kayaking and exploring the mangrove tunnels with Tod Dahlke who owns Tour the Glades Private Wildlife Tours. Tod loves this area and is full of stories about the history, the culture and the natural environment; he kept us entertained as we paddled for an hour before stopping along a shoreline where we had a refreshing snack of fresh fruit and chocolate. Returning to Everglades City we enjoyed lunch at a local fish house, then took a pontoon boat with the Everglades National Park Boat Tours at the Gulf Coast Visitor Center. Our knowledgeable guide provided more information about the glades, the birds, the flora and the history. Be sure to take your guests on this family excursion; fun for all ages. This was a great day and it is all accessible in my own back yard!

Sincerely,
Patricia
