We attended the Christmas Eve church service in the lecture hall of the Grand Canyon visitor center one year where attendees were given candles upon entering the hall. As the service progressed, all the candles were lit and the curtains covering the curved glass wall rolled back showing tiny reflected lights in several of the glass panels. Beyond the glass we could see the first snow of the season that had just started falling in the woods. It was a real life event like the scripted final scene in the movie White Christmas when they opened the barn door behind the stage to reveal the first new snow of that season. It was one of the most memorable moments of our trip west that year.
