Greetings from Big Bend National Park

Big Bend National Park! The name says it all!

My Dad read that the Park was opening, and announced we were going to see this place as soon as it opened.

We lived in South East Texas, so a trip to Big Bend required driving all the way across the State, then turning south to get into the Park. Beautiful country!

The park, at that time, did not have any housing for travelers. We camped and, at night, I would “watch the stars move” overhead.

We continued to go to the Park each year. Slowly, the Park became the place to go and it had lots of visitors, but we always enjoyed meeting these people.

The wild life in the Park was interesting…., cougars roamed around in the park, but as the increasing number of tourist in the park, the cats were less and less. We would see paw prints in the wet places, but that was about it.

Cat Tail Falls! What a beautiful place. I hope the Falls are still running as the hummingbirds were happy being there. They would fly through the mist, as if they were taking a bath.
