Our family had the precious opportunity to visit all 48 lower United States over a 9 year period in a motor home when our children were young. These experiences left an indelible impression on all of us. Our first and longest trip (nearly 6 weeks) took us to 14 National Parks in our 9200 mile journey. From Ohio we traveled West and visited the Badlands, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Mt. Rainier, Crater Lake, Redwood, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Grand Canyon (see photo of sunrise at the canyon), Zion, Mesa Verde, Guadalupe and Carlsbad. Other trips took us to even more and now my personal grand total is 38 plus 36 National Monuments, also I’ve now been to all 50 states. My kids wish they could duplicate these experiences with their own children, but time and money may not allow them this opportunity. They do believe, as do I, that our park system is indeed a national treasure.
