The Glacier Institute bus came to a halt, as we arrived back at the campsite. Half the bus, mouths open, sound asleep, after the long strenuous hike we had just ventured on during the last day of the Master Naturalist class.
As a way to celebrate, our camp instructors drove all of us students to the local town, Apgar, to try Montana’s famous huckleberry ice cream. As the sweet treat touched my lips, I reflected on all that I had gained from this trip. Not only did I learn to identify birds by their call, but also I made a new group of friends that ranged from 15 to 72 years old, all bound together by the same glorious park.
At that moment, I knew this was the very berry best place I could be.
