This historic site preserves the country home of impressionist painter J. Alden Weir, as well as other artists who resided at the property, including Mahonri Young and Sperry Andrews.

It is the only national park site devoted to American painting, and one of only two, along with Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in New Hampshire, dedicated to the visual arts. In addition to Weir’s home and the artists’ studios, the site preserves 60 rural acres and maintains a hiking trail through the bucolic grounds. The site also hosts artists in residence and holds programs where visitors can create their own artwork on site.
