Alfonso Orozco is the National Programs Coordinator for the Student Conservation Association. He is originally from Oakland, CA.

He discovered his passion for National Parks during a four night backpacking trip to Yosemite. That experience inspired him to pursue career opportunities in National Parks, leading him to work in Yellowstone NP, Alcatraz NP, Virgin Islands NP, Mt Rainier NP, and Grand Teton NP.

Alfonso is a dedicated outdoor advocate working to decrease barriers to the outdoors. He has done this through his work with Latino Outdoors over the last 3 years as an Ambassador/Coordinator. He holds a dual Master’s of Science in ‘Natural Science Education’ and ‘Environment and Natural Resources’ from the University of Wyoming. In 2016, Alfonso was recognized as a 30 under 30 who is “challenging the status quo and driving the outdoor industry forward” by the Outdoor Industry Association. In the same year, he was also recognized by the North American Association of Environmental Education as a 30 under 30 who is “creating real change in his community through the power of environmental education.” Alfonso also currently sits as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Center for Jackson Hole.
