Katie joined NPCA in 2019 as the Chesapeake Field Representative. Her work focuses on connecting people to places in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
Prior to joining NPCA, Katie spent nearly 4 years working to protect ocean and coastal environments at the Ocean Conservancy. She frequently worked with committees in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Florida, handling a wide variety of issues including water quality, wildlife and fisheries management, and offshore wind energy. Prior to the Ocean Conservancy, Katie spent several years working on political campaigns across the U.S.
Originally from Frederick, Maryland, Katie earned her B.A in Biology and Political Science from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and her M.S. in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Johns Hopkins University. Her major bodies of academic work focused on coastal ecology, agricultural production and integrated water resources management. Her love for parks stems from summers spent at Cape Hatteras National Seashore and hikes with her father in parks across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys trail running, hiking and camping with her german shepherd dog, Sam.
