• Park Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area This national recreation area offers extraordinary opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in the suburbs just north of Atlanta, Georgia. The park preserves 48 miles of river and more than 50 miles of hiking trails that span 15 parcels of land along the river's banks. Boaters can paddle or tube the river, which varies in difficulty from calm conditions to class II rapids. The recreation area also offers excellent trout, bass and catfish fishing and scenic spots to picnic along the water.
• Park Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area centers on the lake created by Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River. Boat, swim, fish, camp, hike, and learn about the American Indians who've lived here for 9,000 years.
• Park Boston African American National Historic Site In the early 1800s, the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston was home to one of the largest communities of free African Americans in the country. Unlike other U.S. states, Massachusetts effectively outlawed slavery in its constitution in 1783, decades before the 13th Amendment abolished slavery nationwide. Boston became a thriving center for the abolitionist movement and a critical link in the Underground Railroad. The historic site interprets 15 different structures in this storied neighborhood, including two important buildings, the Abiel Smith School and the African Meeting House, which combine to make up the Museum of African American History. Other historic buildings include a school, the homes of several prominent Boston African Americans and a memorial honoring the first regiment of African American troops to serve in the Civil War.

• Staff and Media Personnel Katie Taylor Senior Communications Specialist, Media and Outreach Katie works on a variety of NPCA's issue areas to increase media coverage and understanding around our national parks and their preservation. They enjoy working on environmental justice issues, particularly climate change and expanding cultural and heritage national park sites across the U.S.
• Staff Joshua Jenkins Civil Rights Era Fellow Joshua Jenkins is coming from our NPCA Northwest office to join the Southeast team and will be based in Birmingham, working in Alabama and Mississippi. He’ll be supporting new park campaigns and heritage areas, building deeper connections focusing on the links between parks and community needs/desires.
• Park Canaveral National Seashore Canaveral National Seashore is located on a barrier island off the east coast of Florida that features unspoiled beaches and over 100 middens — heaps of shells, broken pottery and discarded arrowheads left by the Timucuan Indians who were the area's first known inhabitants. The park also features remnants of a deserted Florida town settled by land speculators who settled on Mosquito Lagoon after the Civil War.
• Park Arches National Park With more than 2,000 natural stone arches, this landmark park offers more of these distinctive rock formations than anywhere else in the world. Wind and water, extreme temperatures, and a shifting underground salt bed sculpted the red rock over time into the area's spectacular and often delicate shapes. These arches can be large and impressive like the famous Delicate Arch, or just slivers in the sandstone.
• Letter Efforts to Repeal or Undermine Protections for Parks and Monuments More than 450 organizations signed the following letter expressing unified opposition to any efforts to remove or decrease protections for any national monuments.
