Park North Cascades National Park North Cascades National Park Service Complex encompasses 684,000 acres of wilderness, trails and rivers, as well as Ross Lake and Lake Chelan National Recreation Areas. In this vast terrain are jagged mountains, hundreds of glaciers and old-growth forests that have never been cut, with large, magnificent trees and tiered canopies of fir, hemlock and cedar. The snowy winters at this park produce stunning waterfalls in the spring — a phenomenon that is so beloved, the Cascade Range is named for them.

Park San Antonio Missions National Historical Park The San Antonio Missions play a key role in telling the story of Spanish colonialists and Native Americans of the Southwest. The park preserves the largest intact concentration of Spanish Colonial buildings in the United States today, including exquisite mission churches with Romanesque, Moorish and Spanish baroque designs dating as far back as 1720. All four missions are still active Catholic parishes and churches.

Park Muir Woods National Monument It’s possible, after a short walk in this national monument, to completely forget that downtown San Francisco is less than 15 miles away. This relatively small park, which is part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area, contains an impressive diversity of plants and animals, including an intact old-growth coast redwood forest and habitat that supports many ferns, wildflowers, small birds and mammals, and several federally listed species.
